Last month I introduced the first images
from my new series "The Fountainhead." The
series takes its name from the 1943 novel by Ayn
Rand and is the story of Howard Roarke, an
individualistic architect "who chooses to struggle
in obscurity rather than compromise his artistic
and personal vision."
(1)This project appeals to me in so
many ways; first because architecture was one of
my first loves in life and second, because I
admire the characteristics Rand has given to
Howard Roarke. I have used many of Rand's
quotes in my blog relating to creativity and
vision, here are two of my favorites:
Ellsworth M.
Tooey: My dear fellow, who will let
you?Howard
Roarke:
That's not the point. The point is, who will stop
me? and
"I don't
make comparisons. I never think of myself in
relation to anyone else. I just refuse to measure
myself as part of anything. I'm an utter
egotist. Lastly I love this
project because of the process used to create the
images, it is both crude and sophisticated at the
same time, and it allows for an infinite number of
creative possibilities.
I've created a new
set of Fountainhead images, this time in Denver
and you may see the entire series at

My
thanks to those who have written to express their
thoughts on these new
images.
Cole
